The miscarriage of a baby can be a traumatic event. It’s often accompanied by feelings of grief and despair for parents of the unborn child. It can be an incredibly challenging time for both the couple and their closest loved ones. The parents-to-be may not have had the chance to share news of their pregnancy with friends and family and may suffer the grief of miscarriage in private. It can be comforting to know there is a wide variety of miscarriage support available in Australia.
Miscarriage is defined as the loss of a pregnancy before 20 weeks gestation and statistics have revealed that 1 in 4 pregnancies end in miscarriage. Research also reveals that a woman’s subsequent pregnancy is likely to be carried to full term, unless health complications prevail.
If you or someone close to you has experienced a miscarriage, here are some helpful contacts to assist with grief support and recovery.
